Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
This policy explains what personal information DeveloperOfWeb.com collects, why, how long we keep it, who we share it with and the rights you have. DeveloperOfWeb.com is a web development studio operated by Four Cents ("we", "us"). We are the business responsible for the information described here.
The short version: we collect what you type into our forms so we can reply to you, plus basic technical details that keep the forms safe from spam. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies, we do not sell or share your information for advertising, and you can ask us to see, correct or delete it at any time.
What we collect
| Category | What it includes | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Contact details | Name, email address, phone number, company name | You, when you submit a quote, contact or tool form |
| Project details | Project type, budget range, timeline and the message you write | You |
| Tool inputs and results | Options you pick in our cost calculators and, for the accessibility checker, the web address you scan and the report it produces | You, when you use a tool and ask us to email the result |
| Technical and security data | IP address, browser type, the time of submission, and the page you submitted from | Your browser, automatically, when you submit a form |
| Visit source | The first page you landed on, the site that referred you and any campaign (UTM) tags in the link, with the date | Stored in your own browser (see below) and sent to us only if you submit a form |
We do not ask for, and ask you not to send, sensitive information such as health, financial account, government ID or biometric details. If you run a medical practice, please do not include patient information in an enquiry.
Cookies and browser storage
This website does not set advertising, analytics or social media cookies, and it does not load third-party tracking scripts. It stores two small values in your browser's local storage:
dw_attr: the page you first landed on, the referring site, any campaign tags and the date of your first visit. It stays in your browser and is sent to us only with a form you choose to submit.dw_cur: whether you chose US or Canadian dollars in a cost calculator.
You can clear these at any time in your browser settings. Details are in our cookie policy.
How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry, ask follow-up questions and prepare a quote or proposal.
- To email you a calculator estimate or accessibility report you asked for.
- To deliver and support a project if you become a client.
- To keep our forms and website secure and to stop spam and abuse.
- To understand, in aggregate, which pages and sources bring enquiries.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations and to establish or defend legal claims.
We do not use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you, and we do not build advertising profiles.
Consent and legal bases
By submitting a form you consent to us using your details to reply to that enquiry. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us; this does not affect anything we did before. Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, we rely on your consent, on steps you ask us to take before a contract, on performing a contract, on our legitimate interest in running a secure business website, and on legal obligations.
Email and CASL
We send email only to reply to your enquiry, to deliver something you requested, or about a project you have engaged us for. We do not add you to a marketing list. If we ever send a marketing message, it will be because you agreed to receive it, it will identify us, and it will include a working way to unsubscribe, as Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) requires.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We disclose it only to:
- Service providers who process it for us under confidentiality obligations: our email provider (Google Workspace) and our cloud hosting provider. They may use it only to provide their service to us.
- Professional advisers such as accountants and lawyers, where needed.
- Authorities or other parties when the law requires it, to respond to valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our clients, our users, the public or us.
- A successor business, if the business is sold or merged, under the same protections described here.
Where it is stored
We are based in Ontario, Canada. Our providers may store or process information in Canada, the United States or other countries, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law. We choose providers that protect information to a standard comparable to this policy.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to a project: up to 24 months after our last contact, then deleted.
- Client records, contracts and invoices: as long as the business relationship lasts and then for the period tax and corporate law requires (generally seven years in Canada).
- Security logs: up to 12 months.
You can ask us to delete your information sooner, except where we must keep it by law.
How we protect it
The site is served only over HTTPS with modern security headers, form submissions are stored on a server with restricted access, and accounts use strong passwords and two-factor sign-in where available. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach of security safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as the law requires, and the authorities in your state or province where their law requires it.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete your information;
- stop using it to contact you, or withdraw your consent.
Email info@fourcents.ca, +1 (365) 440-1786, or by mail to Four Cents, 49 Thorncliffe Park Drive, East York, Toronto, Ontario, M4H 1J6, Canada. We will confirm we received your request, may ask for information to verify your identity, and will reply within 30 days (or the shorter period your local law requires). We will not discriminate against you for using these rights. You may use an authorised agent; we may ask for proof of their authority.
United States residents (California and other states)
We give the rights below to residents of every US state, whether or not a particular state law applies to a business of our size. This section is our notice at collection and privacy notice under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, and similar laws in states such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas and Oregon.
- Categories collected in the last 12 months: identifiers (name, email, phone, IP address); commercial and professional information you choose to share about your project; internet activity limited to the page and referral information described above. We do not collect precise geolocation or sensitive personal information.
- Sources and purposes: as described in the sections above.
- Disclosure: to service providers for business purposes only. We have not sold or shared personal information (as those terms are defined in the CCPA) in the last 12 months and do not knowingly sell or share the information of anyone under 16.
- Your rights: to know, access, correct and delete; to opt out of sale, sharing and targeted advertising (there is none to opt out of, and we treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a valid opt-out request regardless); to limit the use of sensitive information (we do not use it); and not to be discriminated against for exercising a right.
- Appeals: if we decline a request, reply to our decision to appeal and we will respond in writing within 45 days. If you are not satisfied, you may contact your state attorney general.
Canada and Quebec
We handle personal information in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for Quebec residents, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector as amended by Law 25. Our Privacy Officer is responsible for compliance and can be reached at info@fourcents.ca, +1 (365) 440-1786, or by mail to Four Cents, 49 Thorncliffe Park Drive, East York, Toronto, Ontario, M4H 1J6, Canada. You may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information.
EU and UK visitors
If the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, you also have the right to restrict or object to processing and to data portability, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
This website is for businesses and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We will update this policy when our practices change and show the new date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so on this page before it takes effect.
