Accessibility Statement
Last updated: October 21, 2026
DeveloperOfWeb.com builds accessible websites for clients, and we hold our own site to the same standard. This statement explains what we aim for, how we test, what we know is not perfect yet and how to tell us about a problem.
Our standard
We aim for this website to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. Meeting WCAG 2.2 AA also meets WCAG 2.1 AA, the level referenced by the US Department of Justice rule under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and WCAG 2.0 AA, the level referenced by Ontario's AODA.
Conformance status
Partially conformant. This is the W3C term for a site where some content may not yet fully meet the standard. We use it because, although our automated and keyboard testing finds no known failures on the pages we test, we have not yet completed a full manual audit with every assistive technology across every page. We will update this statement when we have.
What we do
- Semantic HTML with landmarks, one main heading per page and headings in order.
- Text and interface colours that meet WCAG contrast ratios, and visible focus indicators on every interactive element.
- Full keyboard access, including the menus, which close with the Escape key and return focus where it was.
- A "skip to main content" link at the top of every page.
- Form fields with visible labels, required fields marked in text, and error messages that are announced and linked to the field.
- Pages that reflow to a 320 pixel wide screen and zoom to 200 percent without loss of content, and touch targets of at least 24 by 24 pixels.
- No auto-playing media, no content that flashes, and animation turned off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Contact options (phone and email) in the same place on every page.
How we test
We test the home page and every page template at desktop and mobile sizes with the axe-core automated engine against WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 A and AA rules, with Lighthouse accessibility audits, and by hand with a keyboard only. We re-test when templates change.
Known limitations
- Some articles contain charts drawn in SVG. Complex charts may not convey every data point to a screen reader. If you need the data behind a chart, contact us and we will send it.
- Our free accessibility checker reports on other websites. Its results are produced by an automated engine and may use technical terms.
- Links to third-party sites lead to content we do not control.
