Why these six metros
Website accessibility lawsuits are not spread evenly. In 2025, Seyfarth Shaw counted 3,117 federal website accessibility lawsuits, with New York (1,021), Florida (961), Illinois (585), Minnesota (162) and Pennsylvania (137) the busiest states. California had only 4 federal filings because most claims there go to state court under the Unruh Act. UsableNet counted more than 5,000 digital accessibility lawsuits in 2025 across federal and state courts. Each page below covers that state's own law, where cases are filed and what a local business should do.
